ah, heheh, for sure it's a lady! an hybrid jabuticaba ("red", "precoce"), a seed from Oscar.

looks as it wanna fly, dont you think? opening its wings. I never took it out, so it's ok for now, we are in a hot spring (34º C max) but temperatures at night descend to 11º C or so.

from 25 seeds sowed 4 months ago, 8 or so are in this stage (many poliembrionic, producing more than 1 plant, this one is one of the few that is alone), 7 seeds did not germinated, and the rest are on their way :), many germinated in 60 days.

One of them was damaged by the sun (silly me!) as it was sprouting a tiny stem, I thought it was killed but now we can see another nice green stem :)

More of them:

I had many problems with temperatures in spring, when I took them out, at night maybe we had 10º C, and they didnt liked it.

so they are into the house again...

Really, that's a type of jabo?  Sure looks different from my black jabo seedlings.  :)  But they too seem very prone to giving multiple trunks from a single seed.

Congrats with the germinations!

Update: some of your later pics look closer to my black jabos, albeit with larger leaves.  :)

Yes, it's a tipe of jabo, "a new hybrid from a cross between the (regular) hybrid/precocious x white jabo (M. aureana)." or an hybrid from a cross between the M. Cauliflora x white jabo (M. aureana).

or something like this! I dont remember now.

Yes, they give you multiple plants from a single seed (or a seed that seems to be single...): I dont separate them just because I am afraid about doing it...

Ah, you call "black jabo" to the M. Jaboticaba (sabará)?

Some of them will be multiple sprouts just because they are seeds stuck together. But yes some can also be polyembryonic. Looking good Huertas. Keep up the good work and great documentation of your work. I look forward to eating jaboticabas if i'm ever in Junin.  ;)

Thanks Oscar, so you are spreading this kind of fruits just in case you visit any city/country in the world and you would like to eat a rare fruit! Now I got it!

I forgot to mention that the first seedling in the photo is growing under 3w led light, and it's so happy.

By the way, now that you talk about documentation on native/rare fruits: I am doing some work at Wikipedia, for instance:

https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Campomanesia_guazumifolia

Many people in this forum could work on wikipedia, is necessary because many of these species are threatened with extinction, and having good information about them (accurate, attractive, "seller"), help their salvation.

looks good huertas.

they seem to like whatever soil and water you have.

soon you'll need to learn how to prune them...it makes for a prettier tree, that is also more productive!

Yes Adam, I would like to prune, graft and layer them

but everything slowly. Even I have two seedlings of myrciaria sabara 1.5 years old and they are very tiny. I have to learn how to grow them. The water of the city maybe is not too bad, I dont use rain water yet, but sometimes I wait for the city water a day or more for chlorine to evaporate.

The soild use to be some loamy garden soil, some sand and some compost ... sometimes I use pure compost... sorry: having a baby (a little girl) I can not be in every detail.

What interests me now is maybe to do a few sabara terrestrial layering in almost 4 years old, 3 plants  who are growing well in the front yard with super hot "tropical climate" and no frosts:

branches fall and grow below the top rim of the pot, which help to easily do a ground layer... I'll see.

For now, I do not dare to prune anything, I do not even know how to prune a rose!

Lovely pics and gorgeous seedling Huertas.  Thanks for sharing.  Mine don't look quite as happy (they were left too long in the greenhouse and got burnt... only got two seedlings left and they are very slowly recovering).
