I have this Papaya tree (Pictures attached) that just grew in my compost pile. I've literally never done anything to encourage it. I've read that they can be grown in pots and even indoors, so I imagine they will stop growing at some point much shy of those grown outdoors, but I am not sure if that will be BEFORE IT GROWS THROUGH ME SCREEN on my porch.
It is already mature I imagine, because it is already setting fruit. I found this out just now because I was about to transplant it outside now that it is raining, (I read that transplanting in the rain was the safest bet to keep it from dying). At any rate... I don't want to loose the fruit, but I don't want to compromise my screen either.
Can anyone tell me if these trees can "sense" their environment and stop growning when it senses resistence or will it just keep growing?
Thanks,
Mark
