Hi Luc,

Esalq is the  University of Agriculture of the state Sao Paulo, in this University have an centenary collection of Jabuticabas, and have only one old tree of Myrciaria phitrantha red, so , all Myrciaria phitrantha from this tree, the people call Myrciaria phitrantha ESALQ, to distinguish of the others phitranthas ( red-white, white, and reds from others trees).
I saw your picture tree with fruit in facebook, I think your tree is Myrciaria phitrantha Esalq

Thanks

so far this may be the most beautiful jabuticabeira I have ever seen.

also, I didn't realize until now, but the fruits can get pretty big...

close to the size of Grimal.

wow those are nice sized and beautiful fruit...they are slightly costate too (an interesting feature)!

I can tell there was lots of fruit on the tree in tight clusters.

the long neck at the base of the fruit is an indication of this.

thanks for sharing pics!

Just adding an explanation so people know what the letters ESALQ stand for.
E - Escola
S - Superior
A - Agricultural
L - Luiz
Q - Queiroz

Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz  is located in Piracicaba - São Paulo, Brasil.

How long does it take to go from seed to fruit with this variety. I've seen a few numbers thrown out in other threads but I was hoping someone could clarify. Thanks!

They stay viable from the trip to Australia and some as long as they are packed right which ricardo does. By the way do you have any seeds available again soon Ricardo?
Cheers Don

Hi,

The time to fruit by seed can take 5~10 years, will depend the climate, the soil, the water, fertilization, the region, and others factors
Thanks
