I gave a seedling to i bought from someone to a friend
But I was wondering are these ever 'male' and female plants
the reason i ask is this is the 2nd year they have flowered but no fruits
I thought they were always hermaphroditic

Mine didn’t fruit the first year it flowered... 2nd year I got only a couple of fruits. This year it is loaded with flowers, and I’m expecting a much larger crop.

Same here.. a real exercise in patience, but worth the wait.

It’s recommended to have cross pollination in the case of Surinam cherry.
