Mine have not been nearly that long and they are variegated. However, the variegation pretty much disappears when it's ripe.
Yeah I have had workers comment on my watermelon tree. Taste is improved greatly by keeping them on the tree as long as possible. Super slow growing tree though. I understand why the larger ones cost as much as they do.
I would guess because the fruit is variegated = striped kinda looks like a minature watermelon.

No that's not from my tree. I am currently out of town. When I get home this weekend I will post photos of fruit from my tree. My tree has been fruiting for about 4 years now . What I have observed is when the fruit is green and immature the fruit is more rounded as it gets larger and mature I see the more distinct tear drop shapes. How long have you been growing and fruiting yours? Thanks,Ed
Is centennial kumquat sweet? I have not had good luck with kumquats in the past, but they were store-bought so probably low quality.
I find it to be sweeter than the others that I tried in the past. The fruit has a better over all flavor to me.Ed

I wonder if growing in different locations has a different effect on the taste. Do you find it tart/sour at all?Jeff - when you come up I should be able to have a fruit for you to taste.
