Camellia Sinensis (tea plant) seedlings or seeds in ineed
« on: August 06, 2019, 07:19:20 AM »
Hi,

Does anyone have Camellia Sinensis (tea plant). I can trade my jujube scionwood or persimmon scionwood. I have 5 different types of jujube and 5 different type of persimmon.

Thank you for reading my post.

I have one but is too far from you and is still small. An easy to grow and sun loving shrub.

This spring I ordered seeds of var. assamensis from China. Sadly they failed to germinate. Couldn`t find a nursery with plants. Usually you can buy only japonica.
You might have a chance when ordering a large amount of seeds... maybe :)

Just fruits and exotics in Crawfordville, FL has them from time to time. They do ship too I think.
Trying to grow it all!

Tea seeds seem to have a very short viability window, most seeds online are old/dead/worthless. Buy a plant and grow as many as you would like from cuttings. Camellia Forest Nursery usually has several different varieties. I have found the large-leaf varieties do best in the southeast.
