Will It Transplant? S01E01
« on: December 29, 2017, 04:49:36 PM »
Here is the premier episode of Will It Transplant?

Today's torture victim is a Casimiroa edulis aka White Sapote. This was dug up from the backyard and carried 120' to the new planting mound. Feel free to vote and I will update with pictures in the coming days/weeks.

Whoa, Nelly! I take it your soil is a little too waterlogged for these guys?

I treat these the same as avocados here. I plant almost everything on giant mounds but this one is XL.

Nah. The forum is where the hardcore darksiders reside.

Josh, THIS is an interesting post. My in-laws sis dug up a "sapodilla" and gave it to us...I went out there and did the best dig i could at a moments notice and it still looks great. Your white sapote looks pretty good up top but a bit "uh-oh?" downstairs. I would say it should pull through if the weather holds out. Good luck sir. Chris

I have done a few Sapodillas and all of them have made it and even held fruit. One was a mature 8 ft tall Silas Woods which is now one of the best looking trees in my collection.

These are fun experiments that aren't normally documented. I have been doing a complete renovation of my yard and collection and I have been only putting in trees that I have grown in rootmaker pots and grafted myself but this one was from a dear friend that passed away. I planted those 6 seedlings around it to inarch later on if all goes well.
