Is this Wax Jambu's (Syzygium samarangenses) flower buds?
« on: April 25, 2017, 01:08:35 AM »
I just wanna share my first Wax jambo I planted in the ground Oct. 2015 from 3G pot; (because I am a rookie and too excited to see it's "quick" growth  :) ) and now this small tree is showing this for the first time:

Just received delivery and placed in pot Feb. 2015

On it's 3rd flush Oct. 2016:

First flower buds(?) today:

Hope I am not too hasty to call it... flower bud?
If so, can't wait to have some crunchy bites this year... ;D

You got it Sam! They will (or should) grow quickly. I just noticed my tree is full of emerging flowers. Good luck. Chris

Yup, those are flower buds. My green wax jambu shows a tiny sign of flower buds after 3 years of waiting , not obvious like yours. Anyway, I have to wait in a few days to make sure they are truly flower buds. In the meantime, I pray and cross my finger

I guess, its flowering season for this Syzygium variety;
Still surprised to see such a small tree -barely 3 ft high- already producing flowers... :D

By the way, there seems to be so many names given to this variety..., I read one website
calling this also: Java apple, Royal apple, Rose apple; Jamaican apple, mountain apple, cloud apple...and still many more names!  :-\
