Coconut cream normal?

Seems to be doing well overall. Growth is more droopy that upright. Normal for this variety?

Yes it's normal and a pain. Here are some pics of mine which was planted in ground two years ago from a three gallon.

Cool thank you. I see you build some sort of scaffolding around it. Good idea!

Totally normal. They branch in odd directions, some of my branches went straight to the ground lol with a little guidance and support have given her some what of a decent shape, but definitely a straggly grower. But she produces great mangoes!

Over time, they will start forming scaffolding branches that are mostly upright. Coco cream is actually one of my favored trees in terms of growth habit. It's very easy to prune over the long term. In the short term (first 4 - 6 years), it's a bit of a pain if you're wanting clear space beneath the tree.

At the other end of the spectrum are trees like lemon zest, which grow nearly completely vertically and are impossible to control once they establish some height.

Yea the structure around it is to help hold some limbs up as well as tarping it in the event of a freeze as I am in Lakeland. I cover it and use some heat to protect it.

Yes it looks normal. Wide spreading growth like a spider web on a tree.

I would remove the lower growth which gets less light and focus on the top half. On my Concut Cream hear in California I trimed the lateral growth shoots and forced growth up Vertically. ( See Photos)

It is a virgous grower so it responds well to trimming.

I grafted a CC Scion onto a Manila seedling tree in the summer of 2016.  Has grown quite well since then.

Hopefully in 2019 it will almost double in size again. We shall see.

My CC has a bushy, upright growth as shown in the first photo. But the one I planted at my grandfathers house has the type of growth shown above. I guess it varies by tree

Generally speaking.....Cut/prune branches pointing down. How much common sense does this take? BS Bullie said this and I agree and have implemented.  Use yr artistic sense. Do this but not 100% of the time.

This is exactly what I did.
