plant recovering from transport shock...
« on: May 18, 2017, 10:58:43 AM »
A (citrus) plant shipped to me from another state was supposed to be in transport 2 days got stuck in the warehouse for over a week and lost all its leaves. It's flushing now, with tiny leaves just starting to come out. Question is, can I fertilize it at this point to give it a boost or should I let the leaves fill out first?

it came from another state, not another country. but the question is general - do you fertilize a plant that's just starting to flush after a shock like transport or transplant, or do you wait until it's getting back to normal?

Zafra, from my own experience once I see new growths emerging I go ahead and apply some fertilizer...but I would do only half strength of the recommendations on the fertilizer directions that you are using. Instead of giving it a full dose I would apply it at half the rate and wait a few weeks or so and then apply another "half" dosage. That's what I would do if it were my tree  :)...Good luck!!

Thank you that sounds like good advice. I'll give it a mild 'dose' today.

You really should be posting in the citrus section of the forum.  That ua where you will get your best citrus related questions answered.
