Best Tasting SEEDLESS Mandarin/Tangerine for Florida

Hey All

I have grown and eaten nearly every popular established seeded Florida mandarin (Dancy, Honeybell, Orlando Tangelo, etc), but want to add a few seedless varieties to my small grove.  There are many out there Kishu, Gold Nuggett, Sumo, etc. , but what would be considered #1 for taste & performance in Florida?

I'm especially interested in varieties that will remain seedless/mostly seedless in close proximity to other citrus trees (grapefruit, oranges, lemons, etc.).

How about good old Owari Satsuma?

Satusumas need a bit of cool weather to turn orange, not sure how much of that there is in SW Florida 9B, Satsuma in 9A sure, 9B?

you're probably right   I saw a lot of mention of growing owari in florida but I didn't see the large zone variation.

Kishyu is small but great.

buddinman, I agree with you. Like you have said before 'I've never seen anybody that didn't like Kishu if they've tried it'.  It is very small but so much fun to share with friends !! I don't know how it would taste in south Florida. Tom

Gold Nugget is a unique type of mandarin.  Most mandarins require some heat (less heat then oranges), but Gold Nugget  require no heat to become fully sweet. - Millet
