Heya Simon and yeah you get more flesh yield with bigger lychees and even the larger fruiting lines of FZS at around 50g are great that way. I have previously posted pix of those. Erdon lee is a lot larger than that a very nice tasting lychee and seems to be a good bearer with fruit commanding top $ compared to others in the market.

its a simple graft like every other graft you do. I have done veneer, cleft, on both green and mature wood, although hardened green wood has gotten better results. Also timing is perfect for grafting even now.

Somehow I have cocktail lychee on longan and lychee Rootstock, it may be tough nut to crack but somehow I got good success.

Hi Behl

I wanted to share a couple of graftings of Salathiel I did exactly one month ago on longan. They both took and are pushing now. Thanks for the tips  ;) I hope your grafted varieties on longan keep doing as well as one year ago, I've been told they trend to dry after some time, I hope is not the case with NMT and its seedling Salathiel. We'll see!

"Old Post but wanted to inform that No Mai Tze is very compatible grafting onto longan and hakip rootstocks. I got takes in 3 spots 5 grafts It failed on Brewster. Grows aggressive on longan. It even bloomed in first season."

Behl, I had success grafting NMT on my large Brewster tree so its also compatible. I have Mauritius and Sweetheart grafted and I did notice the NMT and Sweetheart are growing slower than Mauritius for me. The Mauritius grafted branches are growing well and has some flowers now (less than 1 yr old graft). My NMT on longan is doing well and has some flowers starting so I will let a few fruits ripen if the flowers don't all fall off.

Where do people get NMT trees and scions in the first place.

They are becoming less popular and less common here so maybe that is a wider trend. Just in case you missed the erdon lee pic I posted in another thread have a look at this as I think they will be common in the future.

A friend grew these at mission beach and that is a few in my hand from last December.
No Mai Tze and Salathiel are great in the tropics if you want to have purely ornamental trees, because they will never flower or fruit. Erdon Lee looks a lot more promising. Do they perform well in northern Queensland?

I’ve got one of the exotica NMZ too. This is pretty common for them. Looks like a year old air layer at most. Has anyone fruited one from them? I’m not convinced it’s an actual NMZ.

Is there a reason you are not convinced yours is an actual NMZ?  Have you tasted and compared the fruit versus NMZ?

No particular reason. Steve isn't known for his immaculate record keeping, and when I asked him where he sourced his NMZ from, he couldn't recall. That being said. I don't have a confirmed NMZ to compare against and I don't have any other reason to believe that this isn't an actual NMZ. Maybe Brad or Simon could chime in.

I hear there are 5-6 different varieties of the NMT so maybe he couldn't remember which one.
