It was a really good tasting mango

Can you offer a comparison to other mango varieties?

This year past year was not as strong/intense flavor as the year prior but it reminded me of Pina colada and sugarloaf/fruit punch flavor profile type of cross.. I did enjoy “Marko” more only because of how intense the flavor was after eating tons of different varieties but both are exceptional mangos!

Selling one of my Florida Grande peach trees- 7gal/$85

Local Pick Up Only

My grafting list consists of Ah Ping reasoning I'm going to graft it onto the west side of cotton candy which will be visible from my sliding glass door. It is ultra early and has a beautiful red fruit Pleasant to the eye. Secondly some more Dupuis Saigon on two large Valencia Pride. Reasoning it is early delicious and highly recommended by Walter. Thirdly Sunrise on large Valencia Pride. Reasoning it is said to be a good alternative to Jakarta for folks in the interior. Lastly Super Julie in a big way onto ST. Reasoning easy bloomer that I fell in love with last season. At this point in my life I want consistent bloomers because time is precious. In addendum to lastly I acquired a Starch mango tree from Lara Farms that I'm waiting to be able to get budwood. And there's a local seedling of Blackie that came from Jamaica many years ago. That seems by the shape of the fruit to have been cross pollinated with Julie. This will be it's second season of fruiting. Hoping this season confirms last. My friends tree seems uniquely special. So I may be grafting this onto a ital provision tree

Dupuis Saigon budwood got from Walter last season

All great choices!!! Not many people know about AhPing, definitely a favorite of mine. I’ve been trying to get it ever since I first fell in love with it lol.
Surprised you wouldn’t put Sunrise and SuperJulie on that Valencia Pride and keep ST its own tree.. but it sounds like you are trying to limit how many varieties you have on a tree? I’ve lost Dupuis Saigon a few seasons ago.

This year as far as grafting I’m hoping to move varieties from the temporary trees that they were placed on, to some planted seedlings. Varieties that I plan to move are- Mulgoba, Cac, Edgar, Coconut Cream, Sunrise, Kesar, & Shwehinta/Raw Honey. Also maybe Mallika.

Only other ones I’m really looking forward to grafting more of are Pina Colada, Super Alphonso, Angie, Fruit Punch, Orange Essence, Venus, Sweet Tart, Cotton Candy, and maybe Sugarloaf. Reasoning is flavor complexity and also want to add more later season varieties or more of them.

My Orange Sherbet has not flowered since being planted in the ground maybe a little over 5 years now?? Very saddening to say the least.. I’ve not had any good experiences with Orange Sherbet whether it was my tree or not enjoying the fruit and being disappointed with every experience I’ve had trying it. I’ll probably end up top working a seedling in ground in a different location of the yard and see if I have better results 😪

Hatcher, one of the Venus trees, Best, and Taralay zero blooms. (Best was devoured of almost all its leaves by 3 caterpillars before our cold spells to be fair)

Both Lemon Meringues, Edward, Florigon, Marlys, ButterCream, sweet tart all partial blooms with sweet tart being the most prolific and the others listed only having one or two blooms on the whole tree.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: should I pull these pineapples apart?

Definitely separate before you plant! And if you do, plant one in ground and the other in pots.. see what grows best for you. Don’t know what your soil is like in St Pete’s but here on the other side of Fl the soil can be/gets too compacted and most of them end up with a miniature pineapple.

Thanks, I will separate them and not a bad idea to keep a couple back in pots. How large of a container is necessary for a pineapple to fruit?

... and as quickly as they came, the flies are gone again.
Something is fishy not right.

I think "fishy" would bring flies so lets stay with "not right", yes?

Quite! I hope you have better luck ahead

34

Lots more bees with the recent rain.. they’re going crazy!!

35
I also don’t have many flies or bees but there are a couple. I have notice that the sap/nectar that’s usually at the end of the flowers are not as predominant as in previous years and blooms and so the flowers aren’t as fragrant as usual either.. could this possibly be what Alex refers to as more “male” flowers on the panicle or could this be from drier climate conditions??

I need to pause all new orders for the moment and inventory what else is still available as a lot of varieties have just pushed and the available scions, cuttings, & pups left are already been going quickly.

Lemon Meringue, Best, Florigon, Perez & Phoenix are swollen and would probably be the only new orders I may be able to take with a count of (5) of each variety for the moment until I can confirm more scions that will be available. (Perez being the only exception)

This is what it looks like-

Perez- Strong coconut and classic mango flavor ALMOST like an Edward but definitely not similar. Also has a distinct almost heart shape (Thought to be a seedling of Edward? Completely unsure at this point) Most fruit averages about 2 lbs conservatively but I say an easy 2 and a half pounds almost 3lbs. (Only pic I took is kinda blurry and says 2lb6.6oz (yesterday I weighed it and it said 2lbs7.4oz)

I will also be adding “KONA Yellow” Sugarloaf Pineapple Slips/Crowns/Ratoons to the list when orders resume @ $10 each. There are 7 available and they are rather small but anyone who’s already reached out to me and PMed me or placed an order before I start to send out orders tomorrow you can add to your order as you will be first in order of orders.

Thank You to amazing response from everyone as well!

Is the Black Thai edible? If so, is it mostly seeds?

I’m told it’s edible. I’m still waiting for it to fruit

38
Have you fruited the Gros Michelle?

Does it actually have the "banana candy" flavor?

I have not myself but a fellow forum member who provided me with the pup has and did confirm the banana candy flavor

I have a Tropic Sweet in ground 10 years and I've gotten maybe two edible fruits out of it while my Tropic Beauty is in ground 7 years gives me dozens of fruit every year. I gave up on the TS, and I let it run wild and will give it the chop this summer.

I’ve been so on the fence about getting this TS, THANK YOU For posting this about yours!!
