o b t w,

you can jdentify many jaboticaba species by the nature in  which their bark peels!

one of my favorite sp is Myrciaria tenella.  It peels in long thin strips!  it's quite beautiful and unique.

some bark peeling pictures of Myrciaria, and one Eugenia.  If you look at my Eugenia that is peeling for the first time, I can see where someone might get concerned for the trees health!  It looks like a fatal problem!  But it's really a beautiful phenomenon, that is a selling point of this family of fruits.

The first time your bark peels, is something to get excited about!  At least for me it is, concerning jaboticaba, and some eugenias!

Like I said before, flowering isn't possible, until the bark exfoliates!

M. trunciflora very happy! Has a soft peeling bark

M. trunciflora recovering from high ph, now finally peeling after about 1 yr, no peeling!

Here is a cambuca, P. edulis

Eugenia that is peeling for the first time

Myrciaria tenella!!!!

Luc!

these pics of the tenella aren't mine!

I've never seen one in person, I've only read about them!

it's a very tall tree!  all of my graft attempts pushed out new leaves soon after being grafted, but all died promptly.

I'm going to try again soon!
