star fruit seeds ?

If i grow a star fruit tree from seed is it going to self fruit or do i need a male and a female plant ? same question but for carob tree seeds as well ?

I grew two carob trees from seed, one turned out to be male, the other female. I grafted a different female onto the male branches, leaving one or two male branches. All that said I think there are some that are hermaphrodite.
I guess my point is that even if you end up with a male tree it may actually be a plus. You can always graft on female branches leaving one male branch... making your tree kind of self pollinating.

Star fruit doesn't grow true from seed. I know where there are numerous single trees that produce fine including one
in my yard

Exactly.   Single trees are fruit monsters.
