Title: Maprang - general care
Post by: Rex Begonias on July 01, 2019, 10:07:06 PM
Just planted out a seedling, so I guess maybe I am asking the question a bit late, but any pointers on planting and general care for Maprang greatly appreciated.

Do I just treat it like a mango?  The seedling looks similar to a mango seedling.

They’re not as resilient as mangoes in my experience.  Wind can be an issue

Oooh, just put it in a fairly exposed location, wonder if it would have been better with some shelter.

Will they tolerate some shade?

Most seedlings do well with some shade. You could leave it where it is and put hog wire around it with some shade cloth wrapped around the hog wire, this will protect it from wind and too much sun. Good luck!

Mine cooked a bit in my greenhouse before I got my fogging system set up, while my other tropical seedlings did okay.  I have it in full sun with 2x daily drip irrigation.

Anybody know how long these take to fruit?  I might seek a cloned one.  I got a seedling to see how it would do in my greenhouse.
