That looks great Doni!

How much fertilizer will you feed them? And will you use something to prevent rootrot?

Lucky you Doni!  8) Would love to have them growing over here. I wonder if they taste as great as they look?

hi Oscar ,
i have taste them last year and they are better than local durian taste here .. equal to musangking variety .

My friend cousin in java told me that will bring me some in january .
by the way there are 62 variety of red durian in banyuwangi .. some are edible and have good taste . The rest are not.

i heard from the breeder that red durio in east java was a natural hybrid between zibenthius and graveolens.. just like kuini ad natural hybrid of indica and foetida.

Are the different varieties of the red durians named? That's great that the quality is so good on some of them. How do you know for sure that the one you got is of the good tasting type? Is it from same tree? Is it a seedling or grafted plant that you got?

Only 12 variety that have been breeding commercialy based and good taste , fruit size , colour texture etc ..
may be you ever heard about dubang ( durian abang ) , its one of them . One of those variety thst have sold widely in indonesia ..

and my plant was one of them , and its grafted .. banyuwangi people sell grafted plant but ironically they often plant from the seeds .
The reason why they plant seedlings is durian will have long productive age , could reach hundred years .

But i will try to sprout some seeds next month too . So my child and grand grand child could enjoy this tasty variety too . I believe someday somehow , fruit tree will be rare thing in our beloved earth . And in that time , exotic fruit just will be legend or name of the street like now ( in jakarta )
