Harry If I remember correctly you grafted these with approach grafts?  wonder if you had success with other types of grafts with the MC.  I would like to try and graft my MC, this is the tree I purchased the day we met up at Excalibur.

Anyway, your tree looks loaded,  do you sell the fruit when its in harvest?, I would very much love to try the MC this year among some others if i get the chance in July.

All my Maha grafts that were successful were approach grafts.  Obviously, for those that are much better than I at grafting, they can be grafted with cleft or veneer grafts quite successfully.  As to fruit availability, if there is an over abundance, I would consider selling some. So far...even with four trees planted out, I have yet to have an over abundance.   More times than not, even when there is an abundance of fruit, it all seems to get eaten up or shared with visitors to my house for tastings.  Why not plan to come down for one of the tastings?

I would love that !!  I do not have a date fixed yet,  but it will probably be around mid July, not sure what date you hold these. "tastings" i know we are some time away still.  I may even adjust my plans to be able to make it.

You'd be better served to ask what date do I not have these tastings (during mango season anyway).  During the week, at my office in Pembroke Pines, my staff and anyone else that wanders in just after lunchtime, are treated to a virtual daily tasting of whatever might be ripe that day. Anyone is welcome with a call ahead to confirm my availability, to stop by to participate.  At home, virtually every Saturday afternoon there are one or more....sometimes a group of wayward mango eaters that show up at my front gate demanding (in a nice way) fresh mango flesh. Again, always call or message me ahead of time so that you won't be disappointed.  I occasionally have other tastings at home in the evenings or Sunday, but this is much less common.  So let me know when you'll be heading up this way and we can work out a time for a visit.

William, July 13th will be a nice time to be in South Florida, if you want to check out the Mango Festival.

I don't know if they will be featuring anything new and delicious, but it's always a chance  to get some warm Florida sun.

Being he lives in the DR, I don't think he sees/feels any shortage of warm tropical sun.

edit due to dumba$$ smartphone.

Not sure at this point, if I can make it for that date, but if I can't I will still try and make it to the Fruit and Spice park.

Yep know how hot it gets in Fla. during the summer months, not to mention the daily afternoon rainstorms.  I usually visit my mother in Hollywood, in Dec and April, but this year, want to change it a bit, so I can be in Fla during the mango season. and taste some of the mangoes , some varieties of which I have but are still too small to fruit.

There is also Mango Mania at the Fruit & Spice Park. It's too early to tell for certain but warm weather may have pushed the mango season forward this year.

Pug-  she is a poodle- excellent at chasing squirrels but too prissy to stay outdoors for very long.

Maha will be my next tree also  :) - good luck with yours

Nat, she's too cute !Lol...I can totally see her being "prissy"... my daughter has a 6 lb Mini Pin, that acts exactly the same way  ;D.

Welcome to the Maha club!

Thanks Mr Clean!

Hi Nancy,
Great looking tree! I just pugged mine a few days ago. The tree was over 6ft tall but has a nice frame work of branches. I have seen it bloom once 2 years ago, and I think it would have bloomed this year but I was afraid by the end of summer it would have been to tall and wide for me to get it indoors.

I need to get a picture of how it looks now. Today I found buds all ready swelling below the stumps.

I wish you the best with your new tree, and I look forward to seeing pictures of it's progress!

Take care,
Andrew

As much as I would like to take the credit, it was Tom who helped Nancy and her husband.

The last few times I've been to Excalibur I have been escorted by a big, physically imposing fellow. He's pleasant and efficient, but just not bubbly enough. I'd prefer someone who just can't stop talking about all the cool new cultivars available, how great they taste, etc.  :D

I should add that I always enjoy going to Excalibur.   Not every nursery employee is going to be as crazy obsessed about (for example) mangos as I and some fellow forum members might be.  And that's okay.
