Would it hurt to try and germinate it?  If it doesn't grow, fine, but 2 weeks in a wet paper towel will let you know.

If it does sprout up, you could be onto something ----- or nothing, and it'll take years to find out, but the only way to know is to try.

As Wayne Gretzky said, you miss every shot you don't take.

Sorry, but there's no way there's a developed seed in that little thing.

You're probably right. But so easy to find just by opening up the exterior hull and looking inside to see if there is an embryo. BTW, opening it up also makes em sprout faster.

even if it is viable, it may have been epigenetically effected in some negative way so as to pass on the early dropping trait. Why not grow a mango tree from a healthy, fully developed, and tasty fruit? Then again, maybe you got a Wayne Gretzky super fruit on your hands, never know.

On that dropped mango, I would say no. But, I have had seeds from immature dropped mangoes germinate under the tree (fruits were pretty big though), even though those seedlings seem to not have the same level of vigor as a seedling from a mature ripen mango.

I tried one time on an immature seedling, and it did sprout.  Reached a beautiful 8 inches with lovely leaves, and then immediately died due to not having enough reserve in the feeder leaves due to being immature.

Got my hopes up for a big let down.  100% of the mature ones grown in the same media and treated exactly the same way survived without any issues and kept going.  They held on to their feeder leaves for months after the runtling died--who's feeder leaves dried up and withered just days before the plant decided to give up.

I documented this step by step years ago on a forum--possibly this one.  Anyhow, that should save you some time and trouble.
