Kumquats don't do well on their own roots... This is my Changshou kumquat from seed. It is now almost 20 ft tall & loaded with fruit every year.

I believe changshou is actually a hybrid of kumquat and a mandarin.

Changshou/Fukushu is my favorite citrus. Nice to see a full grown one. How long did it take to reach first fruit from seed?

I have never heard that kumquats don't do well on their own roots. There are plenty of booming seedlings around here.They can get bigger than 20 feet.
