Tropical Fruit Discussion / Pollinating my first Cherilata flower
« on: April 27, 2020, 08:01:31 PM »
Hi Everyone,

A few weeks ago I had purchased this Cherilata at Fruitscapes nursery

I planted it immediately and it has been growing wonderful

This is the first flower of the Cherilata on my tree, although it has TONS more on the way

Since I have about 2 or 3 days till my next set of flowers come, I had to pollinate with my sugar apple pollen - Tomorrow I will save the Cherilata male pollen (separated container) and begin to pollinate rest with the Cherilata pollen (I want to get Cherilata seeds)

The aroma the Cherilata female flower gave off was a very sweet Rasberry/Cherry smell - Very different than the Banana liquor smell from the Sugar Apples

Here are some photos, I will keep updated of its progress and see if its able to set fruit with sugar apple pollen. (I was using mixture of green/ purple sugar apple pollen (Na Dai, Thai Lessard, Some Purple Sugar Apple (Perhaps Kampong Muave? not sure..))

Below are photos are the Cherilata flowers and leaves which I took on 4/27/2020

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Annona Pollinating Question
« on: April 20, 2020, 05:17:29 PM »
Hi Everyone,

I have diffrent annona in my garden such as Sugar Apples (about 30 trees) , Atemoyas, Ilamas, Custard Apple, & Cherilata (Cherimoya x Reticulata) -

I have been hand pollinating my Sugar Apple Flowers all fine and have alot of flowers - they have started to fruit - But my question is will I be able to use the same Sugar Apple Pollen To pollinate my Atemoyas, Custard Apples, Ilamas & Cherilata?

I have an overabundance of sugar apple flowers that will be disposable to me to use the pollen - but just was wondering if anyone had any past experience trying this or if its recommend staying with the same pollen to each of the variety.

Thanks all

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Help Identify Atemoya Tree
« on: April 14, 2020, 10:58:27 AM »
Hi Everyone,

A few months back I had purchased two sticks of atemoya (they had no leaves or branches) off someone at the flea market for 5$

They are growing now and have leaves, I had assumed that it was Geffner Atemoya but I had recently purchased a Geffner and when it pushes new leaves I've noticed the color was different.

Does anyone have any idea as to what variety this atemoya might be? Pictured below is the atemoya with its pinkish leaves - and then they turn to dark green.

This is my geffner leaf I compared it to and noticed it was different.

Thanks for your help

Hi Everyone,

I purchased a Red Ilama tree and was wondering if anyone could help me identify the species of Ilama it is.

I've hears some varieties such as Genova Red but was just curious if anyone might know.

Thanks
