Sugar apple leaves yellowing, any thoughts?
« on: June 08, 2015, 06:37:21 PM »
Overall she seems to be doing well. Good fruit set for a young tree, keep cutting of fruitlets as I think she has too many as it is.  And she flowered strong again for the second time.  Just noticed over the past few weeks leaves yellowing and dying off. Not a crisis amount of leaves, but enough of them that I would like to nip it in the bud before it gets worse.  Iron deficiency?

From the photos, I don't see anything abnormal. It's probably just the tree getting rid of some leaves as usual especially now that you said it is having a 2nd bloom.
Iron deficiency will affect all leaves and not just 1 out 20 leaves like the photos.

Kh0110, and FlyingFoxFruit are 100% dead on. It is normal for sugar apple leaves to trun yellow. You will have new growth coming soon. During the fall season all the leaves will turn yellow and drop off just like persimmons.

Thanks.  The fall doom I am aware of LOL  After my battle with mealy bugs and ants on my other tree, which I won, but at the cost of not getting any fruit set, this one is my last hope this year LOL

Hi Adam, I had quite a few yellow leaves on my A. Squa. a couple of yrs. ago , and I read this article online  (saltworks.us) I got some went around the hole yard spreading salt, my wife though I went loco. but the tree actually recuperated, and it hasn't happen again. At the moment  my tree is holding maybe 60 + fruits, and every pic. shows a  few leaves that are yellow too, I think is normal even though I spread Epsom salt around the tree every yr

Nope, rained today for the first time in about a week. And not that great a down pour. Water it about 2-3 times a week since it has been a bit dry the last month.

We've been getting gobs of rain just South of you around the Waterford area. Its putting a hurting on some of my citrus planted in lower areas.  Everything has been flushing for weeks. Just though you would find that interesting.
