Any one grow tropical persimmon ?

I know of a variety called Triumph and also South Florida. I have not seen Triumph for many years and S Florida is available wholesale from Zill in WPB. Good Luck.

I am growing from seed from europe, china and USA but no sprouted. But I am growing too from fresh fruit from South Korea, Spain and New Zealand. From Spain and New Zealand are seedless but from South Korea some had sprout.
I am growing them in lowland ultra tropical in equator. So they grow not suitable for my climate. But some peach and some plum had grow vigorously even beat some my tropical fruit. The peach had flower 2/3 year from seeds.
I am growing too some local variety that had seedless and astringent. They grow not suitable too for my climate. They never tall, always regrow from rootsucker.
That's my experience grow persimmon in equator. My dream is to hybrid them with black sapote, ebony and mabolo velver.

Didn't know persimmon were called tropical. They thrive in temperate regions as well as some sub-tropical areas, but I haven't known them to perform well in tropical climates.

In altitude 1500 above they grow well. Some big tree can produce 100 - 200 kg but they are astringent variety and ugly in appearance. So they can not beat persimmon from temperate and subtropical if sale in fresh form. And in my country the variety is old because they came from colonialism era.
Maybe the persimmon like lychee, need only 200 chill hours...

I agree with this one. My chill hours vary greatly from year to year (200 to 650 hours, avg. 400 hours) and even in the low chill hour years my persimmon tree (which is grafted with a bunch of different varieties) always flowers.

I bought my Triumph from you six years ago when you were at Yellow Green Market in Hollywood. It's remained a small tree, but I like the fruit. The fruit is larger and better than South Florida, which bears heavily. I'd love to plant Winterset also.
