What's wrong with this Mango Tree?
« on: June 14, 2017, 09:39:13 PM »
I'm curious as to the reason these leaves are wilting and turning color. Tree was planted about 3 months ago and took well until about 2 weeks ago. The only thing I can think of is the excessive rainfall we've been having down here in Miami. I hope it's not root rot. But tree has adequate drainage, as a 3ft wide by 4ft deep hole was dug straight through the coral rock to plant it. Any ideas?

It is PPK. It was a 7gal size that probably was about time to jump up to a 15gal. I backfilled it with only the ground up coral rock bits that the hole was dug with because I know the mangos need good draining soil. It was done the same way as all my other mango trees, which have t had any issues at all. The leaves are very soft and moist if that helps any.

Also, mango trees grow like weeds down here in Miami. It's almost impossible to kill one.....Almost

Also, if it means anything, the tree has a ton of fresh light green flush coming out all over

Hard to tell on my phone but it looks like a new flush that has not yet hardened off.  Looks quite normal for a PPK.  Are the older leaves staying green for the most part with no excessive dropling?

There are no leaves on the ground. Not sure if the brown/red leaves are new flush though, that's a good point. I've been on business travel for a few weeks and it's been dumping rain, so I just wanted to get ahead of any potential problems. I'll keep an eye on it over the next week or two. Thank You

PPK and Lemon Zest new leaves are a brownish red before they harden off and turn green.
