Li jujube dead after 1 week?
« on: September 15, 2019, 12:55:00 PM »
Hi, is my jujube tree dead?  I barely planted it last week. I got the tree from mimosa nursery.  When I planted it, it was already wilting, and very root bound.  I use Kellogg citrus/cactus mix, no fertilizer.   As of today, all the leaves/little branches dropped.

could be that the tree is shocked and dehydrated, it is quite tall, a result of overcrowding and shading at the nursery.  Hopefully will make a comeback!  You can try putting some poles with shade cloth to block some sun, only allowing for evening or morning sun only.

Thanks. Hopefully the cooler weather will help.  It is overwatered

Not a tropical tree. Does good outdoor for probably 200 chill hours. Zones 5 to 9b.

Maybe because of heat 95+, transplant shock, and overwatering.  I'll cut back on the water, and hopefully to make it back.

That tree will send suckers all over your yard, neighbor's yard, and beyond the sidewalk.
You should dig it up and put in a big pot.

Wow. Didn't know that.  Is that all Jujube varieties like Honey Jar, etc?  There were already a few suckers when I got it. I cut them off.  I see many ppl with jujube trees in the ground though.
