The local one I got as frankie's red like these I saw in the market today I think are imposters. I got an orange skinned one from Oscar that I think is closer to the real deal.I find they thrive on neglect and just treat them like a yellow with nothing different from other dragons in management. Desert king likes it dry and in a wet climate the fruit are poor.

Those are imposters.  The real one has orange skin and small size.  They do taste good but the size is pretty lame.  You can tell if the plant is the right one, the vines are skinny.

Yeah probably.  Its skinny vine, orange fruit, slightly pink inside...

Frankies Red is an awesome fruit, especially because it is later season and can hang on the vine for extended periods of time. It likes moderate temps, it doesn’t like it too hot nor too cold.

The Megalanthus and Especially Frankies Red seems especially difficult for some people to root but I’ve never had any issues. I just make sure it’s in a warm spot or give it bottom heat if rooting cuttings in winter.

Someone posted a picture of a huge Frankies Red in this thread

I have been hacking mine back with a machete and it looks the same as the yellow its entwined with. They root easily for me also.
