It is believed dinosaurs used to eat the cones whole.There is a big season every 3 years and these huge trees planted around the towns and cities have had their cones wasted for such a long time. Bunya nut trees are one of the most strikingly impressive pine trees as well.

What an amazing story Mike! 😄 Grandpa's receive the seeds as wedding present! The bright green colors are out of this world, indeed look kind of prehistoric, I wonder how the nut tastes. M

Yes they are an Auracaria and ones like bunya are in the fossil record as old as 200 million years.
