Achachairu question
« on: May 11, 2019, 07:32:41 PM »
Hey guys

Has anyone ever had a single achachairu seed (or any garcinia for that matter) push two main shoots before? This was definitely a single seed but it has two plants emerging.

Thanks for the reply :)

Will it produce two plants or is it possible to split it when I transplant it?

Or should I cut one away?

It happens to me, I let them grow up to 35 cm and then I separate them.

I had several do that too. I left them together so far the past 9 months.

They might be polyembrionic seeds in wich case they are exactly like the parent tree .Just like having a grafted tree altough its just a seedling.

That would be great! Because they're seeds from the top tier commercial fruit from Raul's tree :)

Do most people cut one or let them grow together? I feel like cutting one would give the other one more energy to mature into fruiting age. But if you let them grow together is it double the fruit? Only it will take the two shoots growing together longer to mature into fruiting age? Anyone ever done a side by side test? I have two acahachas that have two main shoots and are about the same size so maybe I’ll do a little test and post the results.
