I just applied on line for a small lot seeds permit, but I can't find a USDA office in Orange County, CA on the list the USDA listed. They are all way away from my place. Does anybody happen to know one where I can go to to get my application approved? Thanks in advance.

Thank you Harry for answering. It's good to know that mangoes don't require spraying to grow. Here are some pictures I just took. The fungus under the leaf is new to me. The new leaves are not affected, at least to my newbie eyes.[imghttp://][/img]

I am sorry if my question has been asked and answered before, but I am overwhelmed with all the reading about mango diseases and sprays, I need a short cut. I just bought a Mallika mango, and some of the leaves have brown edges with some greasy stuff on them on the underside. It's too dark to go take pictures right now, but if needed, I'll take some tomorrow. Not knowing any better, I did cut off the worst ones and threw them away yesterday. I didn't realize they could be a sign of something really bad.

Thank you, Plantlover. Now I have to look for a seed or a tree.

I took these pictures a few years ago in Cambodia. Could you identify the Jackfruits? They are the size of a 2-liter coke bottle, or maybe a little smaller, with very sweet and soft flesh. They were so abundant in the markets, but it seemed like nobody was buying them, except me. :). The vendors had a very neat way to remove the edible part. They just cut around the stem, then squeezed the bottom of the fruit, and voila, all the perianths came out still attached to the core, and I ate them one by one just like I would a bunch of grapes. I didn't bring  any seeds back because I wasn't into tree planting at the time >:(

I looked at my pineapple tops rooting in water today, some had rotten cores. Does it mean they are toast?

Thanks Growfromseeds and MSK for your pics. I am going to plant half of my pineapples in water, and half in soil.

Steve, I checked Ebay, and the seller is in Florida. Did you receive the plants OK, or did you have to get permits?

Sven, I don't know how to post pics or Youtube videos, but the pineapple tops I put in water a week ago are nothing to talk about, just half dried leaves and no roots yet. If you go on Youtube, there are some videos about rooting Pineapple tops in water, and some say that it's a faster way, but now that I read Phantomcrab post, I think I'll plant mine in pots. Thanks, Phantomcrab.
Plantlover, what is a TC plant?

Thanks for posting. I've read about rooting in water. Have you tried it? I am now just experimenting with it. Will see. I also read that the serrated leaves varieties are sweeter, but I can't find them in the stores here in So Cal.

Hello everybody, My name is Nancy, I live in So Cal, and just started to grow tropical fruit trees. I have been reading this blog for the last few months, but I wish I had known about it before I started planting my few trees 2 years ago. I have some citrus trees in containers, a Haas avocado and a seedling guava in the ground. Earlier this year I planted 2 Atemoyas in the ground, but one got root rot, so I googled to find out how to deal with it, that's when I found this forum and some others, I have been lurking all this time, and now finally found the courage to jump in. LOL. I learn so much from reading your posts. Thank you all for sharing your knowledge and experience.
