so the picture is of m coronata fruits, beside m cauliflora fruits for size comparison?

or are you saying this is a hybrid?

to be honest, the bark and foliage remind me of M trunciflora, and especially the size of the tree.  I've never seen a coronata so tall.

Hi ASaffron

M. trunciflora have stalk (cable) between the fruit and the tree trunk
M. coronata dont have the stalk (cable) between the fruit and the tree , The M.coronata fruit grow direct in the tree trunk

Other important detail , the fruit of M. trunciflora is maximum size 2,5cm,
The M.coronata regular size is 3,0 cm, some biggest other minor

right!

now I see the branching habit is not weeping..and if you say the fruit doesn't hang from a stalk, then I believe it's not trunciflora.

thanks for sharing the information, and wonderful photos!

is there a varietal name for this species?  I know there are many varieties of coronata. (and varieties of almost every species of plinia)

Beautiful pic's RICBITAR

This species of tree looks a lot like Davidsonia genus................... Davidson's plum. Cultivated tree Northern NSW, Australia...................but thats probably my naivety.......like comparing   apples to pears.................. Myrciaria coronata and Davidson's plum both grow their fruit on the frunk.............but I guess theres lots of fruit out there like that................and they are not even botanically related...................do they taste similar?

Thank you ASaffron!

This varietal is know only for M. coronata common, populary in the region people call Queen Jabuticaba. I take picture near the crown jabuticaba, see bellow. The M.coronata is the biggest  Jabuticaba of the specie, regardless of the variety. The taste is sweet and very good.
Yes, have many species of Plinia, I think many species not cataloged yet, and  some  new species wrong cataloged

Hi,

I'm more interested in "jabuticaba-coroada-da-restinga" because according to e-jardim.com it is more suitable for a warmer climate than the normal 'Jabuticaba-coroada".  Let me know if you have it. Also looking for Plinia edulis.

Hi,

I dont have coronata restinga,
The normal coronata type is perfect for subtropical or tropical climate, produce more fruit in hot climate.
The average weight of fruits type normal M. coronata is 32 grams, the biggest about 40 grams or more
The tree  M. coronata (normal type) is bigger than Restinga,
One big tree M. coronata normal type, can produce more than 200 kilos fruit
Plinia edulis (cambuca) available seeds in december
Best regards,
RIcardo
