I love the pictures!  Thanks for sharing them!

BTW...there are many varieties of cambuca..I wonder what type you have?  I have heard there is a white barked type, and a red bark type.....and I'm sure there are a few more.  The tree in the picture seems to have a white colored bark.

Is there a way to get pictures of the leaves up close?

Thank you Asaffron

Yes, have a type white bark an a type red bark, but , I think isn't different types, I think the age of the tree , influenced in the color of the bark, I will try to explain ( my english is not good)
- I saw a tree , more than 200 years old, in the wild , I have pictures (bellow),  the first thing caught my attention was the color of the bark, because is very red (in the picture not right to see), BUT, all seedling bellow the tree, the bark is white, seedling about 1,5 meters tall, sure, the seedling is son of the tree red bark, then I think the different color of the bark is determinated by the age of the tree,
Other reason I think is the same type (white and red bark) , is the fruit, is exactly the same, taste, color, size, etc..

about your question about the pictures of the leaves up close, yes, I can get this pictures this week

Ricardo, whopper is a slang word ,meaning giant. If that is only 60 years old and there is a 200 year old tree, then Mike you haven't seen the real whopper yet! Ricardo, is it possible for you to get photo of 200 year old tree?

Hello Oscar,

Both tree, the 60 and 200 years old, have a history, and both are in the sea forest of the state of Santa Catarina :
- 60 years old : the grandmother of the owner of the farm where is the tree, she planted the seed of Cambuca in her garden , when she flirted with the grandfather of the owner this farm, is it about the decade 1950
- 200 years old :  this  tree are in the forest in a permanent preservation area within a private farm, when I saw the tree I do not believed in the size.
This farm are with this family for over 150 years, much of the family still lives on the farm, the sir in side of the tree is one of the owners grandchildren , he told me that tree already bore fruit in the epoch of their great-grandparents, and the tree is still alive until now because it was protected from generation to generation
Thanks
Ricardo

Ricardo how early do they start fruiting? How cold will they take & can they be grown in a sub tropic area with a water table of five feet consider this tree can live to over 200 year; it must have a deep taproot at least several hundred feet no??? ???

Here had one cambuca tree start bearing at 10 years old. I later realized it was getting to much shade. They fruit a lot faster in full sun. So my second one planted right next to the first but in full sun started fruiting in about 5-6 years.
I think the cambuca is fairly cold tolerant, not an Amazon species, but forget the numbers. Google it, was discussed here before.
