Mango tree blooming now
« on: June 10, 2020, 09:48:08 AM »
Hello Folks, I was driving around my neighborhood and saw a big mango tree in full bloom now in the summer!?!
Is that an oddity or is it normal?  Never seem anything like that.  The tree is full of flowers, what kind blooms in the summer?

All of my SoCal trees bloom in May... It's very weather dependent. But blooming in June in Florida does seem rather odd

Several trees at Truly Tropical, in Delray Beach, Florida, have fresh blooms on several scattered branches.  I do consider that unusual.

Same here, my Carrie mango blooms in May here in california. Now, if only it would set some fruit...

Be careful what you ask for, once the Carrie does set fruit it will likely explode. Mine had two crops this year, I'm working on eating them from the second one now.

My Ponkan Tangerine had blooms when I planted it in March. It is now setting more blooms.

My Carrie pushed new growth early June, two were flower panicles.  Tree is very confused right now.
I didn't see flies or bees anywhere close to the flowers so I assume they will dry and fall off.

And yes, June flowers in Florida is in my opinion unusual.  ...but it happens.

I wonder what is causing all this, is it weather related?
