Depends on the variety and how stable it is and also if it outcrossed. Kampong mauve nearly always grow true. Big eyes shows a lot of variation in seedlings and some even have a red flush. My orange sugar apple seedling volunteered for mulch patrol after its fruiting debut with small green fruit that were seedy and of poor taste.
I have seen green, "red" and "KM look-a-like" fruit from KM seedlings.
Rob, recently a good friend of mine fruited a KM tree he bought from Excalibur and the fruit was green, we decided the tree was mislabeled. Thinking more on this does Excalibur sell grafted KM trees? Because two things could of happened A) mislabeled tree B) Seed grown KM that fruited green 🤷♂️
I recently fruited a seedling from Fruitscapes called “yellow Thai” along with my same friend and both our fruit were green. 🤷♂️
From time to time mutations can happen in the the sugar apple genome ie “seedless” sugar apple, these beneficial mutations are rare, but also not all sugar apples are the same.
