The Tropical Fruit Forum

Hi All I'm creating this thread to document my success and failures growing tropical and sub-tropicals in Wisconsin. I realize this topic might only have limited interest for those who live in tropical areas, but I hope that it can be a resource for those who decide to try and grow these plants outside of their comfort zones and serve as a source of encouragement.  I have up to this point grown all my plants in pots and moved them outdoors in the summer and indoors in the winter where I use supplemental lighting in the form of Compact Fluorescents and LEDs. I'm starting this thread now because now 5 years in I am starting to have success fruiting some of these plants. 

Your thoughts on where the most under described (either not identified by science...or it has been named as a species but is completely unknown as an edible fruit outside a small area)  tropical and sub-tropical fruit is located.  This could be a large area ex. central africa, a country ex. Brazil, or a specific region ex. Los Santos Province, Panama.

Bonus Question: Same as above but as it applies to temperate species and varieties of fruit.

Of the many different varieties of citrus I've had the chance to taste this season so far TDE 2 & 4 also known as Shasta Gold and Yosemite Gold are easily the best I've had.  Both the early picked fruit that had a more tangerine characteristic and the fully mature fruit have been packed with flavor that has contrasted starkly with the rest of the citrus I've had this season (which to be fair has still been fairly good).

I enjoyed them last season as well, but the Nagami kumquats, Satsumas and Moros amongst others where just as good last year. Now that the season is starting to wind down what were some of your favorites?
