Yes, leaves of true P. nigrum looks different. I can take pictures of both. Today I notice some spontaneous germinating seeds from last year crop.

27
In fact it is not the Piper nigrum. These plants are frequently sold across whole EU as true P. nigrum, but it is probably P. kadsura easier for indoor growing but only as a decorative plant. True peppercorn has different leaves and you must get the clonal variety which develop the fruits without polination, otherwise you will need female and male plants for succesfull fruiting. Many other species of wild peppers are dioecious (P. cubeba, guineense, retrofractum, longum etc.)

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Toona Sinensis question
« on: January 22, 2020, 02:15:24 PM »
It look like juniper or Cupressus seedling. Sometimes it occur when seeds are mixed with seeds of nearby tree/shrub. I was sowing Toona sinensis few years ago and this doesnt look like real Toona seedling.

29
I brought 1 plant from Nicaragua 20 years ago as a small seedling. Now it  is about 6 ft high and begins to bloom. When it will produce some acorns I can send you some.

We need to make a forum with a list of sellers that can provide phyto certificates, prices ,experiences, etc.

Its very good idea, we can put it right here to this thread. My last experience was with seller from Cameroon, he is able to add fyto to every shipment so you can expect no problems with custom. I dont know if he is active on TFF but previous someone posted under nick Isolona.

31
I ve got my first package with seeds last week with no problem. But this one has fyto added. Customs remove fyto out so its clear they take the work serious :D

2 Honza: It must be an activity of agricultural dept. in your country. I got only warning from officials the new rules for seed imports from 3 country became valid from december 14. Registered plant producers need plant passports for their production for a long time, especialy domestic fruit producers (nontropical). I think that new rules will affect mainly seed imports from 3 countries - all parcels which will be positively indentificated as ,plant material containing, will be destroyed unless phyto will be included. Another thing is that if you order smaller seeds or declaration will be something as decorative necklace pieces custom will let it pass out. We will see...

33
So far there has been no problem in Slovakia with seeds only live plants need the phyto. However, it has change since december. Only the following months will show how difficult these changes will be.

34
Yes, you must be lucky when the seeds will pass without beeing sized but it will not resolve the problem - how to get the smaller amount of seeds legally and from sellers who cannot provide fyto...

35
On 14 December, a new EU regulation which regulating the import of live plant material came into force. According to the local authority of our country, the phyto must already be attached to a shipment of seeds from a third country even in small quantities. This complicates the situation not only at the exit from the exporting country (situation in Brasil) but especially at the entry into the EU. I wonder if other EU members have noticed the application of these new rules, or whether these rules apply equally in each EU country? I also have a question to sellers - who of you can attach phyto to a seed shipment to EU destinations?

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: Wanted: Szechuan pepper

Szechuan pepper (Zanthoxylum simulans) is self fertile. One plant is enough to produce the spice. Other species - Z. piperitum, Z. coreanum and others are dioecious so you need female and male plant to produce seeds.

This is my plant, does it look like Ceylon Cinnamon?

It look like real C. zeylanicum - leaves are more elongated not round like leaves at first pictures.

Cinnamomum include a lot of different species. I have the similar plant as you - it was sold to me like ceylon cinnamon but true ceylon cinnamon smell is very different - more sweet than this. Also it is very different from C. cassia which has more narrow and darker leaf. I suppose it is some what close to C. iners or C. tamala

I notice first flowering in my lucuma seedlings this year (now). I brought the seeds from Pisac market (Peru) during my 2011 trip. Fruits were big and very sweet - dry variety Lucuma.

45
It looks like A. prunifolia. Try A. melanocarpa - fruits are not only bigger but more juicy.

I have 2 females but 1 male so no problem with pollination. Im curious what will be the sex ratio if I will get some seedlings. I need more males because  they are more problematic with speed of growth than females.

Finally its clear that both of my female Ilex paraguariensis plants have fruits. From last year experience, when I got only 1 fruit which I lost after storm (or bird prey? dont know..) I expect that they will be ripe at the end of august. What is your advice for succesfull germination? Only very few direct reports are acessible online and they use very different methods. I dont want to waste so precious seed material... Thanks
