Wow plentiful of flowers :o, even if only a portion of those flowers bear fruits, there will be hundreds.

A. sericicarpus is a giant so if you do not have lots of space, A. sarawakensis may suit better.

Maybe infected by "Elsinoe fawcettii" or "Neoscytalidium dimidiatum". Using copper-based insecticide (Coper Hydroxit, Copper Oxychloride or Mancozeb 80%) may help cure both.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: 4 seasons longan
« on: September 30, 2017, 09:38:30 PM »
Anyone with knowledge of nhãn "bốn mùa" (four-season longan)? Supposedly it flowers and fruits year round. I found this on face book.

May I ask if you're able to provide more info regarding that facebook link?

In Vietnam longan is cultivated very widely thus there are many trees produce fruits off-season, all year round hence the local name "nhãn bốn mùa". Those fruits can be sold with higher price. I believe it is just normal longan (Dimocarpus longan).

Nice and just about time, thanks Luc!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Yellow fleshed Rambutan?

Have you actually seen these before in person?  Have you tried them?  Or are you just going off of the article?

Tried once before but not much enough to get drunk. It was very sour. People eat it with a special type of salt to reduce its sour and increase the taste.

Its season was only in May and June. Maybe next year I can find some and post here.

It's real and a jungle Rambutan species which is not cultivated. The link also says people will get drunk if eat too much, very much similar to Marula.
Unfortunately it seems out of season.

Yes it is rare, in danger of extinction, who bought a good business, during the next few years, I will have many species of pouteria in frutificación, as far as possible I will share with the outside, many very rare still.

That is very very much appreciated. Thanks Alexandre  ;D

Today I was very happy to see photos of seeds sent by me from Pouteria Macrocarpa, produced here on the farm.

Thank you for buying these seeds, I am happy to see the success of germination

thank you!

Very nice seedling and tree Alexandre! Never seen Pouteria macrocarpa before!

It will be nice to have many leaf and entire plant photos of well identified jaboticabas to compare with the non identified ones... I sent many messages to forum members, youtubers and other collectionists to do a proper database. We are working on it and I will receive soon many photos of a brazilian collector that has more than 20 rare species.

+1

My M. Cordata has arrived today. All germinated en route with no mold/fungus! Thanks Mira (nimfasnursery) for the great packing job. Such highly perishable seeds as M. Cordata are hard to ship but Mira did it.

Seems like the climate is getting hotter is a real thing. Heat-lover species are happily fruiting while others get severely overheated. Not sure how far we are to a point at which heat-lover species also get overheated.

Got Duguetia Riedeliana (Pindaiva rubi) (and Duguetia lanceolata) from Alexandre today. They were very carefully packed and arrived in good condition. Thanks Alexandre!

I chat through messenger  with Abimael forum member from Puerto Rico son's he told me Abimael sent him to let me know they are fine but there is no light and water on the Island and the trees are alive but destroyed, this is a copy of original message :
Soy el hijo , mi padre me envío a decirle que estan bien el y su familia pero que estan incomunicados, sin luz y agua , el celular funciona en algunas areas pero como ahí escasez de gasolina, los arboles estan vivos pero destrozados.

Maria has destroyed most of Caribbean islands. They will need a whole lots of time to recover.

Nice Raul! Very nice shots! That is a unforgettable experience! I've seen that you met some very awesome/big Ilama fruits.

I'm impressed by the fact that Ilama is everywhere and that Dr. Gustavo Valladares has 160 varieties which is a whole lot of treasures for those who loves Ilama. After your story, I have no idea if you should visit back there (as you already selected the most valuable varieties) but I believe there will be some fruit lovers/adventurers starting to put on plans for a visit to Cd. Altamirano and Dr. Gustavo Valladares. There maybe some other types of never-seen-before fruits which haven't been in their seasons yet.

Anyway, it's great that you returned safe and are able to share with us here.

Don't know about you folks but so far 2017 was not really a good fruiting year , actually very poor . Some trees didn't even flower at all . Others on the other side had unusual heavy crops . Did any of you experience the same ?

Luc I've heard from my friends in Borneo and Brazil (Amazonian) that some weird stuff have been happening:

+ Borneo: some forest species do not fruit at all (Willughbeia,...) for several seasons in a row
+ Amazonian: currently some areas are very dry. It's hard to collect fruits/seeds as there are very few fruits produced.

Looks like the climate has been changing in a very unpredictable way.

A friend nearby is a longtime acquaintance and customer of Sadhu in PR, a rare fruit collector probably well-known to most people on the forum here. He told me today he got word from Sadhu that his farm was destroyed and he doesn't know what to do in the future. He said that pretty much all the other farms were destroyed too.

I see an update to Sadhu's website that says more:
http://organicfarm.net/

I was intending to ask about Sadhu. That's so bad! Going to donate some. He is needing help.

I had a dream about these seeds last night. In my dream each seed was numbered with a sharpie that corresponded to the pdf.  ;D

That can come true if Raul appears safe, finger-cross......

Hi, so, if we in the U.S.A want to order from E-Jardim, can we? Will the seeds arrive? I love the webpage but, since I don't speak Portuguese I'm a bit concerned. Any info would be appreciated. Best regards, Chris

I think yes. I've contacted them and they ship worldwide. Note that the minimum amount per species is around $240 excluding shipping fee. If you purchase 3 species, minimum amount will be 3x240$ plus postage fee.

Haven't heard from Raul yet...  :(
