recently I've been paranoid about snakes in my yard, but now I think it might be useful to have them around for thieves

That really bites! I'd be looking for those shorts and shoes around the neighborhood.

Someone stole a whole stalk of SweetHeart bananas from us about 2 weeks ago. Not even ready yet, total waste. Pretty sure it was the neighbor's landscaper, who has cut my passion vines and ruined fruit in the past.

Frustrating, makes me suspicious and paranoid. Sit around thinking of ways to protect fruit and teach bandits a lesson.

A motion activated sprinkler might not stop them, but would be fun to watch from the surveillance cam.

In the gated communities where a lawn service is contracted to do the whole neighborhood, forget it!  If you're not home, they will steal your fruit.  Both my wife and I told the lawn service who works next door in English and Spanish to not even think about taking our avocados!

For every mango tree you plant in your yard ... you have to plant one in a vacant lot, one near your favorite fishing hole, one in a pot hole that needs fixing, one behind the store you do most of your shopping at, one ...

And some MFer will still come and steal your fruit!

Sayyid,

That's a shame, sorry to hear about that. The POS didn't go for the last one because he knew his face would have been revealed!

This is why I live at the end of a very long and remote dead end road.

That's suck ass. This is why I want to move out of the people's social republic of California to rural southern Florida.

Good thing I live in a super quiet neighborhood surrounded by old folkies.

Blessed be the man who plants a tree knowing he will never live to enjoy it's fruit or shade.

I always share, but what really pisses me off is when they strip the tree when it's not even edible yet.  Total waste.  Morons.

Wow thats insane!  What a little wierdo creeping around for mangoes at 2am.  We should put a basket of mangoes on the floor in the front and stay up late tonight to catch him and teach him a little Florida lesson.  Only if he knew how much time you put into your trees.  Im sorry that happend brother.

Only person I have caught stealing a mango is the interim mailman. Lucky for him he only took one and has not been back on the route since. Told my regular mail man to let him know next time I will visit the post master to file a complaint. My  biggest fear is catching that on my ring camera and not being able to do anything about it. Right now my honey kiss are in danger everyday but for some reason (knock on wood) no ones has messed with it. I have several trees in my front yard, and I know its a risk I take, will eventually put a fence around front yard to make sure they understand crossing that barrier to get to my trees is trespassing. Sorry you lost all your CAC. I would be pissed as hell.

Mango wars. Maybe plant green mango, mangos that taste bad when not perfectly ripe, mangos that you have to pack in camel dung to ripen, mangos that are surrounded by gators, mosquitos and thorny blackberries, ugly mangos, mangos with lower branches grafted with nasty tasting mangos.

Looks like a public park because its not fenced. With smaller fruits they break the branches and go away with them so consider yourself lucky he didnt break the tree.

I bet if that same person respectfully knocked on your door asked you for 3 or 4  or even to buy 3-4 of  your mangoes you would happily do so !!!!
People don't think.......karma

For Future insurance, do you have room in your backyard for another Cac tree?

Sorry for this violation / theft Khan...you will be blessed with abundance from somewhere else next year!

I would have had to have knocked him out and waited on Police. Did your ring not wake you up so you could go outside and ambush him?

In this case a chained dog would have been perfect...  I had all sorts of farm thieves before, they would even come in and dig up Tapioca, or even better the neighbors we knew thought it would be ok to harvest greens early morning in plain sight.. not even trying to be subtle.  Dogs are part jackal, they do not allow any strangers. I put a few of the most aggressive ones in warehouse daytime so they don't accidentally bite mailman or 'ok' strangers, then they all roam free at night sundown to sunup.  Since they all female, they don't stray far from home.

If need them daytime, just chain them up where needed, to stop the pig from using an accessway, or around a fruiting tree near property border like this.
