Has anyone tryed using Bat Gauno on their Fruit Trees?
« on: October 15, 2014, 07:34:54 PM »
I usually buy Soil Conditioners full of this stuff. But I was wondering if it would be better to just buy this stuff and worm castings in bulk and make my own top dressing?

I get the super bat tea from budswel http://www.hydrofarm.com/product.php?itemid=6786 and its been working awesome on everything from citrus to banana, Myrciarias even my mangosteen and durian. I have even used it on some seedlings in small amounts without any burning.

The only problem I have with Bat Guano is the cost, it is more economical for containers. Especially if you do a SWC setup so the fertilizer does not run off. For in ground trees, your best to build up the soils with mulch, and cheaper manure. The fish bonemeal is cheaper and has a higher P value then the bat guano.
Grow mainly fruits, vegetables, and herbs.

Urine has more nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium than bat guano and you won't be supporting people killing bats. If you take a multivitamin you're also putting a bunch of different minerals into the soil too.

In the first link there's a study that showed bananas fertilized with human urine and 75% the recommended amount of potassium yielded 47.7 percent more than the ones treated with mineral fertilizer.

I'm confused.  How are bats being killed for guano?  These bats are shitting out gold.  No one is going to kill them for it.

lol

guano = poop. i don't like using it bc the dry particles can get in your lungs when trying to apply it. not trying to get sick. i like rock phosphate as a source for long term phosphorous.
