The green tape you have is too tight and it's girdling the tree. Not sure if that's what's causing your issue, but that will definitely harm the tree

yikes... looks like i planted my double trees to close together (about 2 feet).

i am pretty sure the pickering is going to get outgrown pretty quickly. maybe you should plant it on the south side so it gets more sun exposure?

Maybe it's the age or history, but my malika looks much more symmetrical compared to the picture

I know folks that grow in 9a and below but 9b and above is optimal. Dwarf Red and pitogo are the most sensitive of the bunch and will not do well in 9a. It may take more time for the mats to develop and provide fruit below 9b, but it's definitely doable in 9a. Just plant them in a protected area. I wouldnt recommend pots at all. The roots really expand out on bananas and they will become root bound quickly.

How are the alata fruits? Has your alata vine fruited yet? Also do you just need one vine?

Not sure. It flowered but no fruit set. Still not that large though.

This year has been frustrating for me. I hacked back my pickering too late last year and it's only puahing vegetative growth. Maybe I let it hold too many fruit last year... Not really sure. I also have a NDM that's good size but it looks like it's stuck. Swollen buds since late January but absolutely no growth or blooms... I could deal with at least some homegrown NDM but the wait is killing me.

Steer manure is probably not the best way to go as it is high nitrogen I believe... You want high potassium for bananas.

From my experience they usually don't fill out and are subpar without leaves to support growth... You may have a better chance if you remove a few hands, but I don't know if that will help much with only one leaf.

My Florida Hass avocado also has droopy/curled leaves but it seems to do that when it puts its energy into flowers and new growth. The new growth looks healthy too so I'm not worried.

I'm not sure if it's effective with all the spit, bacteria, etc. but if you enjoy it, why not? Lol... Try it out and report back. I doubt there are any studies on it though and I am sure there are more effective ways like using a small paintbrush.
