Tropical Fruit Discussion / Donnie Avacado?
« on: August 13, 2021, 05:38:19 PM »
I bought this tree at home depot in Pinecrest, Miami. The tag said it was a coquette. It is being harvested in August. I think it may be a Donnie Avacado.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Cherimoya in Cuba vs Miami
« on: June 06, 2021, 08:16:36 AM »
I have a 5 foot tall Cherimoya tree which I grew from a seed that was brought over from Pinar Del Rio, Cuba. The tree at one point dropped every single leaf but has since come back and is looking healthy. I keep hearing that Cherimoya will not grow well in Miami. How can it grow well in Pinar Del Rio but not in Miami? I think the climate and sea level is very similar. I recently re potted the Cherimoya tree into a 50 gallon soft pot. I want to know if I am wasting my time.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / How to treat my sick Anon trees?
« on: September 14, 2019, 11:44:02 AM »
Today is Sept 14th and my Anon trees should be health with harvest ready fruit on them. My trees are located in Miami. Please take a look at the attached pictures. One of the trees has no leaves and the other has sick looking leaves. Should I be spraying neem oil weekly with more frequent fertilization? Does anyone have this problem with there Anon trees? These trees were both healthy last season with fruit.

This is a 4 to 5 year old Anon tree (purple variety). Last year went well with healthy leaves and 8 anon harvested. The leaves droped as normal but never returned. The pictures shown were taken on 8-16-2019. Two months ago I lightly fertalized with 666 and sprayed some neem oil. Any advice???

Tropical Fruit Discussion / I am taking out my citrus trees in Miami.
« on: September 23, 2018, 07:48:26 AM »
I had a minneola tangelo for 4 years in the ground which I bought in a 5 gallon pot from home depot. I watered it, fertilized it, sprayed it with neem oil and it showed multiple citrus problems. It flowered but never produced fruit.  I decided to take it out and replaced it with a Mamey tree.

I have another "dwarf" naval orange tree that I also purchased at home depot. It has been in the ground now for 5 years. It also is very high maintenance and not producing fruit well. I am planning on taking out the naval orange tree to make room for something that produces better.

I have a lakeland limequat in a pot which is producing well but showing signs of common citrus issues.

Does anyone have well producing tangelo or orange trees in Miami?

Should I take out the dwarf naval orange tree or keep trying?
