A friendly reminder when responing to PM's
« on: October 02, 2013, 08:53:12 AM »
When you receive an email from the forum indicating and displaying a personal message that has been sent to you, YOU MUST REPLY TO IT USING THE FORUM! If you simply hit "reply" using your email account you will be messaging the forum and not the person who sent you a message.

If only the email notices for the PM's would mention not to reply to the email maybe this wouldn't happen.

You mean like this..

"You have just been sent a personal message by ******** on Tropical Fruit Forum - International Tropical Fruit Growers.

IMPORTANT: Remember, this is just a notification. Please do not reply to this email."

You and I have both read this and replied the wrong way too!

Stop trying to deceive us. There's no way this mistake could have been made over and over and over and over if there was such a disclaimer.

Yes, there's a disclaimer just like Patrick mention. But, I guess people always rush to read their emails and forget to reply back on the the forums direct link and not the email notification sent. I admit :-[, i'm guilty of doing the same thing, as I mention, when I first started the forum, but now I know :D

Maybe it would be clearer if it was like this:

"Remember, this is just a notification. Please do not reply to this email."

you could always change the reply-to value in the header so that it gets sent nowhere and bounces

Thanks for the laughs!

But Shane raises a good point, if it's possible.

I just installed a modification that eliminates the message content from the email.  In order to read the message you will be directed to the forum, and then directed properly to respond.. Lets see how that works!
