My question: Does soursop have a short season?  From my tree about a dozen are ripening in the space of a week.  (Going to have to freeze the pulp!)

From what I've seen of this particular tree was a about 2-3 weeks of fruit in June, and another month in October.
However this was the first time the tree was fruiting, we'll see how it goes this year.

Here is a look of one of the soursops with some other fruits for scale.

Here an update on my fathers seedling soursop tree.
Its doing really good. So far this he picked 4 this year
Probably another 40 more

Around 2.5 lbs each

Here is the tree, about the size of a single story flat.
Second year fruiting

Congrats, that's a whole bunch of delicious fruit! Any chance of teaching him to hand pollinate so he can get some real whopper sized soursop?

I just started hand pollinating Atemoyas this year so I'll give the soursop a shot too.
BTW, when is the best time to hand pollinate Custard Apple (A. reticulata)?

Looks like a pond apple, so unless your extremely lucky it might not be worth the effort

ha nutty. Where did you track down the golden queen?

First time I had a Jin Huang (golden queen) mango. A nice balance of sweet and acid, and had a hint of the "cola sap" aroma permeating the flesh.
The texture is firm with a good bit of pectin. (Not as high as manilita)
The one i had was the size of a big Valencia Pride but with more of a NDM shape.

Over all, i like  ;D

I too was fooled by the Pine Island viewer. It didn't help that Fairchild had it listed as well.

We have really good information here on many of the mango varieties, way better than what is out on the internet.
It would be helpful to a lot of people if we can put together a more accurate list on its own webpage. If possible, part of this website but not necessarily on the forum.

I wouldn't mind scrubbing some information from the forum and putting something together. I'd just need help confirming the info is accurate (at least in South Florida)

Taking the chainsaw to mine this weekend. I too believed the hype. Lousy bearer, vigorous leggy grower, and a total waste of premium yard space. Condo mango my big toe. As an experiment a few years ago, and before knowing any better, I top-worked a seedling tree in my neighbor's yard with Tommy Atkins, Lancetilla and Keitt on separate but equally spaced branches. The Lancetilla outgrew the Tommy Atkins by leaps and bounds and periodically had to be chopped back to control growth. The Keitt branch was left in the dust.

So to top work, what do I do and when.
I know I will cut it down - how tall of a stump?
I know there will be regrowth - is there a best time to cut so the regrowth can be grafted on to?
I assume I can get bud wood from some here but when typically is scion material available?
I will like to put two or three different cultivars on if possible, is the a compatible set of good mangoes with similar growth characteristics?
If making a cocktail three can they bear at different times?

So many questions so little time :)

All suggestions welcome.

Anyone grows or tasted the Siamese mango?

1562
This is a really cool idea I wonder if a big shield it patch bud would work too.
Keep us updated. Cocktail jackfruit might become a thing now

I usually buy ripe brogdons from Bender's Grove during the summer. Maybe starting in July.

Came across the 2017 list recently. Didn't see any post concerning it yet

The Siamese sounds interesting. I wouldn't mind putting a kastooree on my canal bank to see how it does with fungus.

I was there. Since this one today, the only other one I had been to was Broward back in 2012 I think. The facility was big enough. Saw some big names I'm familiar with like Going Bananas, Hopkins, Wayne Clifton, and Flying Fox Fruits. When I saw Adam there I remembered the thread about where is Adam and why isn't he answering messages :). He was busy and at one point he had to control the crown of poeple that started grabbing his yellow pitingatuba fruits in the trays he had on the front desk. Was hoping Toptropicals would be there too and to my surprise they were supposed to be but they had some mechanical problems and were delayed.  I left at around lunch time so I do not know if they made it. Went there solely for mulberries and got four different types and some jabos I didn't already have. Spent just under $300. I was surprised to see how many Cotton Candy mango plants different nurseries had. I think Wayne had the most. Also saw multiple Edgar , CC, Kathy, a lone Orange Essence. Pickering seemed to be the star. Chatter heard when walking through the crowds near the mangoes were about Maha Chanok and Kesar. Also saw some carambolas I havent heard of like Red Dumpster and some other one whose name eludes me now (Possum Gold?). Kajang carambola still eludes me. Saw "B-10" and apparently this is not "Bell" but a much older variety (close to 40 yrs old). Saw lots of Luc's garcinia seedlings for sale at this one stall for $50 (?) a pop about 6" high with 2-4 leaves at best. I hope the mulberries I bought turned out to be what the label says. When packing my "Giant" in the car, I only then noticed the pot had Perv. written on it. LOL.

I've had a chance to taste Red Dumpster aka Island Gold now sold as Pine Island Gold.
I liked it enough to plant it. Your welcome to some scions.

I agree with the above...soursop

Looks like leaf hopper damage to me. I have to spray azasol + botanigard once a week for leaf hopper control.

Here some updated pics of mine.

Any idea on what this could be causing this?
These trees didn't have any problem last year.
I did spray micros on my trees recently. but i don't see damage on my other trees including annonas.

Thanks

Thanks, will do

Even my custard apple is getting in on it. Not as bad, mostly wrinkles.

Thanks for the suggestions.

i just planted 3 mango seedlings and plant to graft some disease resistant varieties to them.
Didn't want to line the whole back with mangos, although it would look nicer.

I have a few rollinias so I'll plant them there when they get bigger.

Would soursop or abiu work?

Haven't seen a thread related to this topic.

The trees will have to deal with occasionally flooding.
Any suggestions?

Banana seem to fit.

Yay... first mango of the season.

Rosigold:

Nice,

Seems like the earliest west Broward can get mangos is April

I was at tree huggers farm a few weeks ago, I'm pretty sure they had a few then.
Give them a call and see if they have it this week. Less far to travel then Miami.
