You got Rosi so you are way ahead of me in two years you will have the earliest mangoes to announce here nothing wrong with that. Love those large expanses of green grass but you need to mulch that baby Rosi down your beautiful green grass is grabbing nitrogen from her. I see some scant remnant mulch there. Wood chips+839 fertilizer= success and you have both

Alexi, Steven, Gary:  Thanks, will post more pictures soon.  :)

Lycheeluva:   Me neither, first time it fruits twice.  The first time was in January, check out this post.

Zands: Thanks, you are right, had some pine bark mulch on it but will get some more on it soon.

OK, Adiel.....a very good tease, but stop holding back on us.  More pictures please.  How large and how old is your apple tree? Do you provide it any speacial care?  Do you have only one tree or is there any cross pollinaton going on? Did you hand pollinate or let nature take its course?  How does the fruit taste.....critique please?

Harry sounds good.  :)  The Dorsett apple is about 9 years old.   No foliar sprays, only 8-3-9, magnesium (espson salt) and this year I hit it with potassium 0-0-50.  Also hit it once with a soil drench of micronutrients.  It is hand pollinated and there are no other apple trees around.  The soil is limerock and I believe it is on crabapple rootstock.  As far as the taste of the apple, I let it get "very" red, then I pick it (This is what I did in January), it is sweeter than any market apple, very delicious taste.

For small back yards and pots in florida or california Carica monoica would be great. This was was a seed 7 months ago.
Dorsett apple trees are for sale in all local nurseries but they can't be grown as it is too tropical for them.I would love a tree like that beauty.

How is the fruit of C. monoica? I've heard it's not very good tasting.

I only got the seeds a few months ago and haven't tried the fruit.I was told they are very ordinary fresh and very nice cooked, hence their popularity in peru or was that ecuador? BMc can report to us earlier as the word on the street is that he has ripening fruit.

C. monoica: not good tasting is quite an understatement.  :D

Albeit my experience is limited, for me they do not have a taste.

In comparison, C. goudotiana is aromatic and with some sweetener I find them quite tasty.

I found the so called papayas in Chile the same, totally tasteless. They were really C. cauliflora. I agree about C. goudotiana. Also very nice looking fruit goudotiana:

Nice pictures, Dorsett Golden is a great apple. I am growing Dorsett Golden and Anna both apples produce nice crops usually twice a year in containers.
Grow mainly fruits, vegetables, and herbs.
