Yes, I'm sure it was on poor rootstock (pond apple).  Because I don't live anywhere near Bradenton, I was never able to attempt to get a replacement.  50 bucks down the drain on that one!  Wayne sent me several emails, implying I wasn't giving it proper care, never mentioning a rootstock issue.

Are there any of the AS for sale or going to be

scions will be available in March
That'll be great!  Thanks, Frank.

John as I recall you had an issue with dream it probably was on the wrong rootstock have some one graft Arka sahan on cherimoya first or atemoya rootstock not on the cheap pond apple

I should make a couple Arka Sahan/Dream cocktail trees.

Wayne didn't take out a patent on "Dream Cherimoya," did he?  What about the Indians who developed Arka Sahan?  Is it patented?  Like someone said, the only way to know for sure if they are one and the same is to do genetic testing.  Otherwise, just enjoy the fruit.  I like Dom's idea of grafting both on the same tree.

I purchased two 7 gal. Dreams from Wayne Clifton back in January 2016. The two pictures were taken at Wayne's house the day I picked them up. I sold the smaller Dream this past summer to a forum member that lives nearby. The other picture is what the Dream looks like one year later.

Thanks JF, I will be the first person on your scion list this March for the many varieties of Atemoyas your growing. I really enjoyed the Calostro, Birula, and Pink Mammoth Atemoya fruit I purchased from you recently.

I wonder why people don't just take Wayne's word for it, that he planted a seedling, and the seedling grew poorly on it's own roots, so he grafted onto pond apple and cherimoya, at which point the scions from his seedling were able to grow vigorously.  He never took scions back with him, it was just seeds....he's not a liar, or crazy, or a drunkard, or a druggie...

take his word for it, he planted the seed himself.

Wayne Clifton, the originator, has claimed it is the absolute best-tasting "cherimoya." Those that are growing it seem to share his enthusiasm about the flavor, but usually not making the claim of preeminence.

Best tasting Florida grown annona I have eaten although I haven't had all of them. It also sets without hand pollination and has great cold hardiness.

That's pretty much where I land on this one, though I'm skeptical of the claim that it has survived 19°F. Wayne is awfully close to both the gulf and a river, AND has a bunch of ponds in his neighborhood. I'd love to get a date out of him for when that happened so I can pull some weather station data. Considering the record coldest temp in Bradenton, FL is 23°F back in 1981,and the coldest in the last 20 years was 26°F in 1997, well... Maybe I misunderstood, and he didn't mean his specific tree, but a friend's tree elsewhere had survived 19°F.

Last year I sent 2 emails to Wayne asking about the Dream atemoya for purchase and never got a response. Now
I finally understand why.

You understand a dork ignoring someone's ignorance with rude behavior? Sorry, I do not.

If ANYONE gets pissed at that innocent comment they need a shrink, AND they need to stay away from people and they CERTAINLY should not be in a business selling to or dealing with people.

Regards,

   Gary

I'm also interested in one if there are any left. I cruise though FM often on my way to family in Cape Coral.
