Hi friends, need help from all you experts here...i am in zone 10b, North Miami and have a long area about 2 ft away from concrete house wall, 15 ft long and 3 ft wide  that can host fruiting trees/bushes. This area is wind protected being close to the house, gets 2-3 hrs of direct sun from 1-4pm and is close to my downspout drainage so i can have more water diverted to the area during rains. I already have a lot of papayas, bananas, natal/coco plums, canistel, surinam cherries, dwarf mulberries and carambolas growing around so looking for some other suggestions?

I hear a lot about garcinias, eugenias and plinias these days, do you think I can plant any varieties of those in this spot? I already have a cherry of rio grande, grumichama and sabara jaboticaba growing elsewhere so looking for something else to add to the food forest  :D. Any suggestions on something that fruits quick (maximum in 2-3 years), can be kept around 5-6 ft tall and wide? I think i have space for 4 small bush/trees there. Thanks!

I was down at Fruit and Spice park yesterday and checked for any flowering mango trees. Could only find one tree - Shew Ya Za Ma. Apparently only some branches had flowered. This variety is from Myanmar and tree had a spreading canopy. I have never tasted this variety and would like to know if anyone is growing it and know if its an early season variety like Rosigold.

Going around my yard this morning i noticed all the mango trees that flushed in the last 1-2 weeks have this weird curly pattern. I did not notice any bugs on the undersurface or on top and do not see any discoloration in the leaves. Could this be a response to the drought in this area, the north miami beach did not get a good rain in the last 2 weeks. Could this be some nutritional deficiency? Surprising is that the trees in the same area that flushed a few weeks back and have enlarged leaves and show no deficiency, and these affected trees are scattered around the yard. Even a potted Nam doc mai has new flushes that showed this.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Soursop SOS
« on: September 10, 2018, 03:15:41 PM »
Hi,
i have been reading this forum for a long time but never posted. Really appreciate the knowledge i gained from you guys, its very helpful in maintaining our fruit tree garden. We have a meditation garden focused on edibles and fruit trees in North Miami Beach, FL.

I just noticed leaves on my soursop with these little gall-type growths and many leaves with discoloration as well (pics attached). The new leaves do look green with no discoloration but have these small nodules along the central vein. We were thinking either a gall-forming insect or fungus, but don't know for sure. Please let me know what it is suffering from and how to help the tree. Thanks in advance!
