Bombay Mango
« on: July 12, 2020, 11:39:04 AM »
I have read that Bombay mangos produce monoembryonic seeds. I have planted what I thought was a bombay seed and it has produced multiple shoots. Can anyone confirm if the seeds are mono or poly?

Bombay is mono.   Sometimes you will get multiple sprouts from the single seed.  If you were to dig the seed up, you would see that the Bombay seed has no separate embryo sections.

In theory, some mono plants can rarely throw poly seeds.  Some poly plants also throw mono seeds periodically.
