Hi Adam, it's a great idea to keep all your Myrciaria posts and photos on one thread that way if i forget something you mention can easily go back to it for reference.
Have you ever seen jabos fruiting on roots on the ground, like in that video from Brazil? I've never seen that here.

Great thread! I love all the photos.
Sorry for the mundane question, but do you have any guess as to how old my two jabos might be?

Thanks in advance

Thanks. I admit i cheated. I've only owned them since last fall, but they have grown a lot! So since these are standard jaboticaba, i'd expect another 4 years before fruit(if ever)? - keeping them in a container permanently.

Jaboticabas like constant water. Using a saucer under the pot full with water can help speed up fruiting. Also fertilizing very regularly, at least every 3 months, also helps.

Adam,

Since you have a huge selection of Jabs...Why don't you do some cross-breeding with the Jabs?

Kimi,
Yes indeed!
The video is spoken in "Brazilian Portuguese".  The speaker speaks with a "Paulista" accent (from Sao Paulo state)!
As Adam wrote before, the speaker describes a large variety of jabuticabas in Brasil, and he recommends jabuticaba hibrida (hybrid jaboticaba) to be growns in an apartment patio.
When he plants de tree, he puts in the bottom of the pot:  argila = clay; terra = potting soil); and humus de minhoca = worm castings.
I hope this will help.  I am so glad I found this video!  it is an well done video!

He mentions that there are 12 species of jaboticaba species and rapidly goes over the names. He also mentions that hybrid jaboticaba needs a lot of light. So place in your apartment in a place will they will get a minimum of 5-6 hours of sunlight.
If you have the room and really like jaboticabas i would suggest growing both the hybrid, for faster production, and sabara, for different tasting, and some also think, superior tasting fruit.
