Best spray fertilizer?
« on: January 30, 2020, 07:29:02 PM »
What do you think is the best foliar spray fertilizer? Are there citrus specific ones? Have you tried Neptune fish fertilizer? all of my berries love it, but I haven't used it on citrus.

I use Peters/Jacks High Performance 25-5-15 granular mixed with water and a surfactant.  I have never tried anything else so I don't have any other suggestions.  This particular fertilizer only seems to be available in 25lb bags so this might not be very helpful to you.

it should be noted that Millet recommends a 1/10 dilution rate for foliar ferts, iirc.

Vlad I've read that PDF before... I think the title is misleading.  Even its own conclusions don't suggest that foliar feeding is a myth, only that it isn't intended to be the primary means of fertilization, which I don't think anyone was even suggesting.  Assuming foliar fert does what is claimed (which this PDF agrees it does) it seems to be a fine method to address specific nutrient deficiencies in the short term.

The University Of California's Citrus Production Manual, and the amazing text book, Advances in Citrus Nutrition, published by the National Research Center for Citrus does not think it is a myth.  I have used foliar spraying as a  method of providing nutrition, especially to correct deficiencies, and find it works very well.

not a myth indeed.
But if you spray oils during the winter to kill insect larva, then it won't work
