Yes Luis, they look great, sad I didnt discovered them before! it's a 3L poted plant (less than 1 gal) that was almost neglected, so I dont hope the fruit will be great, but, anyway, the problem could be it lacks of sweetness, so if it's the case, I will be able to imagine it with some more sugar ;), just speculations...
Why do you think it's not sweet?

No no, I didnt tried them yet, still firm in the tree

I think they could be less sweet because it was not well watered while ripening (as I discovered the fruits later...)
But less whater usualy gives more sweetness to fruits i think...

"Avocados in Corroios, Portugal. These beautiful are a tree that has not been grafted. They get caught with some green and at home to get ready to eat take the dark brown color. Vegetable butter!"

Luisport, those vegetable butter seedling avocados look delicious. I hope that they are being propagated so that they don't go extinct. Have you tried them?

There are anyone that can provide seeds of very good and sweet pomelo and grapefruit? Only nead a few. Thank's!

Learn to clean a pomelo like a professional fruit seller.

I don't understand why they are not in Spain or Portugal. SPain has the best orange navels of the world and loads of citrus, i bet there must be pomelotree's as well somewhere. There was a link on the forum from a citrusseller in Italy (or Spain) that sold loads of variety's of citrus. You need a grafted one, they fruit in a year in Thailand (in full sun only).

We really need a nursery-list for European nursery's on this forum. They exist but are hard to find.

You can graft other citrus on Pomelo or pomelo on citrus but they need strong branches.
Hi! No my friend, the best citrus are from Portugal! And we have some local var that are pure sugar! Thank you for all info! ;D

The seeds of a grapefruit produce a  plant identical to the parents? Can i graft grapefruit seedlings in orange trees? They grow fast? How long they take to fruit? I don't know nothing about grapefruit!  ;D

Pomelo's are much sweeter but still have the bitterness and tangy flavour, i have one on the tree and love to see it. Big but still small for a pomelo.

You probably know this but pomelo needs to be aged for best flavor.

You leave it in the open for a week and then wrap it in newspaper for a month or more. The thick skin will protect the moisture within. It will lose some bad flavors and develop a honey flavor. If you're in a humid place then forget about wrapping it. Just wait at least a couple weeks before eating it.
I don't know if i understand, you say that leting the fruit on tree make it less bitter?

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: Source for Camu Camu seeds?
« on: March 24, 2014, 10:13:00 AM »
I got a batch maybe 6 months ago or more and had good germination after a long journey to me.I gave the seedlings away after they grew quickly. I considered them less desirable for my liking due to reported sourness.
Hi Mike! Camu-camu is sour but is a super-food! It's very important nutritionaly...

I have limited quantities of Valentine pomelo seeds.  The seeds are collected from a fruit grown at
Lindcove REC. The seeds are light pink in color.   I will pot them soon if no one wants them.

Ken
Hi! This pomelo is sweet or acid? Maby i'm interested...

Temperature might have been -1, but when you factor in wind chill factor it probably was a lot lower temperature. Even here in tropics i have to protect plants from the wind, as they can dry up too fast and also get badly beat up.
Yes it's true. I didn't count with this wind factor because this year was very very windy... not normal here.

I don't understand why nobody here grows pomelo. They are delicious and huge.
They are not acid?

just the opposite - wonderful fruit

citrus - very little much,  quite far away from the trunk, seems to be the consensus ( this has benn asked before)
Infortunately we don't have sweet pomelo var here... only the acid one.

Thanks for the links Luis. It's not easy to find information about some of these "new" rare species.

Tomas
Yes Tomas it's interesting... in one of them we can see that eugenia longiracemosa has some cold standing eugenias as habitat companions like eugenia patriisi...  ;D

2199
To those interested, i just found some habitat references to eugenia longiracemosa... http://www.lcb.esalq.usp.br/publications/articles/2009/2009kbv64n1p147-153.pdf   ;)

Hi vitor! All the seeds arrive in perfect conditions and very fast! They are all sprouting, even the eugenia longiracemosa. Thank you so much, Luis.  ;)
