This is probably Musa basjoo...In forum bananas they say it's not a basjoo, probably is one orinoco... even so it's amazing how they survive there this years and stablished one comunity... i'm shure it's the only musa comunity stablished on a european river bed!
So swim for it.Lol
You should ask the property owner to let you get a sucker and try growing it out.It would be great, but that's in the river. It's public and it's the municipality that is responsible for the river use... and i can't go there, just swimming or by boat.
Can anybody suggest some good uses for these? I have a handful of ripe ones but aside from the novelty I haven't found a good use where they clearly outshine regular lime juice. So far they are good in fruit sherbert/ice cream. I'm going to try in guacamole too.Hi! fingerlimes are very very versatile. You can use them on almost everything! There are many recipes online...
If they are resigned to the pure novelty bucket that is fine, I'll just keep mine pruned small.
Wow! Never would have expected that. Maybe it’s that hardy musa that can take very cold temperatures? Don’t know if people grow that there though.Yes, this is all so strange and exciting... and having them growing them over the rocks and not on the river bed it's amazing!
Hmmm ... I don't know if it's true. There is a pineapple plantation on the island São Miguel (under glass) because it's just too cold there.Of course it's true. You have diferent micro-climates in same island. The only cofee plantation in Europe is in Azores.
